Gopro HD Bodyboarding. Tropical Cyclone Bianca creates rare summer swell in Perth Western Australia
www.louisstonephotography.comOn the 30th of January 2011 Perth Western Australia had a rare summer swell courtesy of Tropical Cyclone Bianca. 8am the beach was flat, but 2 hours later and the waves had picked up to 3 - 4 foot which made fo an ok shorey bash. (Apparently Down South was alltime)
Perth was only a shorey but it was still fun (except for the getting the worst sunburn of my life part, and rocking up to my new job looking like a fried lobser with eyes so sore and bloodshot that they must now think im a stoner)
Soundtrack: The Cure "Boys Don't cry", Soundgarden "Jesus Christ Pose"

FORUM: BISHOPS OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA
BISHOPS MANDATE Catholic schools are an important means through which the Church proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the world today. Students need to understand the Christian call to foster everything good and everything unifying in society from a Gospel perspective. All members of a Catholic school community have responsibilities relating to fostering this perspective. In particular, leaders within Catholic schools are called to promote its evangelisation purposes, aims and ethos, its development as a faith community , its religious dimensions and educational outcomes.

WAN purchase of Seven Media approved
WAN shareholders approved the $4.1 billion acquisition of Seven Media Group by West Australian Newspapers Holdings at a meeting in Perth on Monday April 11, 2011. WAN will buy Seven Media from Seven Group with $1.081 billion worth of its own shares, equivalent to 29.6 per cent of the company. Seven Group will also receive $250 million of convertible preference shares, $650 million repayment of a Seven Media loan owed to Seven Group and $2.104 billion of assumed external net debt. WAN will raise $461 million through a placement of shares to Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts (KKR), $653 million from an entitlement offer of new shares and a further $40 million from a general public offer of shares. The proceeds from the equity raising will be used to repay $450 million in debt, repay the Seven Group loan and pay transaction costs of $45 million, with the balance to be used for general corporate purposes. As part of the transaction, Seven Group will sell its interest in WAN and not take up its entitlement under WAN's entitlement offer. Shareholders passed all five resolutions associated with the Seven West Media purchase, including the name change from WAN to Seven West Media, to be run by the Seven Media management team out of Sydney. WAN chief Chris Wharton will run the company's WA operations. The new company will remain listed on the Australian Securities Exchange as the biggest Australian domiciled listed media company. Almost 30 per cent of shares cast ahead of the meeting, were cast against the deal. A number of the retail shareholders spoke up at the meeting, voicing their concerns about the debt levels of the merged company and at the possibility that dividend payments may fall. About 250 shareholders attended the meeting.Published 10 months ago

Canon 7D - 2K 8FPS stills to 1080p25 video
A conversion test I conducted using the pixel-motion feature in Adobe After Effects. The 7D is one of the few cameras in the current Canon line up that can shoot full resolution still photos at 8 frames per second. I utilised this feature by importing the photos as a JPEG sequence, setting the frame rate to 8FPS then placing that in a 1080p25 timeline with pixel motion turned on. Conclusion - Although the resolution may be significantly higher with no moiré or aliasing, there aren't enough frames in there to create intermediate frames and a terrible watery-blur artefact is thus created. It works better on shots with slower moving objects. Technical - Canon 7D with 50mm F/1.8 MKII, shot at F/2.8 - photos were taking at 2K resolution to speed up the render time.Published 10 months ago
